The  Heart  Behind The  Studio

Welcome to my little world! I’m Kristin—a multidisciplinary artist, a loving cat mama, a nuturing "plant mom" to over 150 houseplants, and a firm believer in the healing power of slow, intentional living, and creative self-care. In 2017, my husband and I finally moved into our very first home, and it has since become the sanctuary where my creativity and my hippie soul truly thrive.

An  Artist   Since  Day One

I attended four years of art school, and although I ended up graduating with a different degree—a choice I long regretted—I eventually realized that an art degree doesn't define an artist. I’ve always been an artist since the first day I picked up a crayon as a little girl. With the constant support from my husband, family (and kitty babies), I've finally begun my lifelong dream of creating an art studio and shop.

The  Healing Power Of Art

Kristin and Her Cats was born from a very personal realization: for me, art is not just a hobby; it is a vital tool for restoration and healing.  After navigating some of life’s hardest chapters, I finally returned to my roots. I’ve rekindled my friendship with art, using it as a form of self-care and a way to find "happy" in the small, messy, watery marks of the creative process.

My Magical

  Creative Process

In my studio, you’ll usually find me surrounded by bright and grungy hand-dyed papers, inks and watercolors, botanical prints, and hand-bound journals.

I love the unpredictability of working wet-on-wet—watching a mist of water turn a simple mark into something whimsical and dreamy.

There's something about the dream state, where things don't look exactly the same. They seem fuzzy, and liminal, but also comfortable and magical. Capturing that enchanting and ethereal feeling is what my art is all about.

Whether I’m charging water for dye sessions under the glow of a full moon, or experimenting with vibrant, colorful dyes, I lean into the magic of not knowing exactly what the result will be.

The Real Supervisors      (The Cats!)

“Kristin and her Cats” isn't just a name. These two heartbeats have been a huge part of my creative journey and my wellness journey. Having cats puts another magical element into life and fills our days with tranquility, fun, and lots of love.

Gigabyte (a.k.a. BooBooGiGi), and Little Buddy (Bubba Boy) are my literal children and my constant shadows. Whether I'm creating art, cleaning my home, decorating for the season, or just relaxing, they are always right by my side.

Although they look like twins, you can tell them apart by the little black spot on Little Buddy's nose. It looks just like he was smelling ink during an art session, and got a little too close!

BooBooGiGi is my wise tuxedo girl, overseeing the art process and taking charge of quality control. Bubba Boy is my sweet baby “Cuddle Buddy”, and he truly looks up to his big sister, making him her creative apprentice.

I couldn't ask for two better little helpers!
